For long years, I’ve been recommending ElegantThemes for my clients with no hesitation, no wonder they have an elegant WordPress themes for everyone, and also they offer the most affordable WordPress premium themes membership in the market.
In this theme review post, I will introduce and take you though the revolutionary Divi Theme, which has been release by ElegantThemes. This amazing WordPress Theme has a ton of awesome features, it will be hard to mention or cover them all features in one review. I will be focusing mostly on the brilliant Divi Page Builder, so read on.
To start with my review, I’ve created a fresh WordPress installation specially to test out Divi Theme. Once I activated Divi, it showed me a notification to visit the cPanel to set it up.
Update: ElegantThemes has release Divi Builder Plugin.
Divi Theme Options (cPanel)
If you are familiar with any of ElegantThemes’s Themes, then I am sure you’ve came across their awesome Theme cPanel which allow you to set up the main settings of the Theme.
Within Divi’s options page (cPanel) you will have control over several features.
How Divi looks like on a fresh installation?
At this point I would like to show you how Divi Theme looks like if you install it without doing any customization or even change a single setting:
I love the very clean layout I’ve got when I browsed the website front-end.
Divi Page Builder
One of the main features of Divi is the fantastic built-in Page Builder, which allows you to create amazing pages, the sky is your limits.
However, I thought the Page Builder works on Posts and Pages, but it turned to be made for only Page. Well, this makes more sense actually, especially that chances you will need to build a Post is rare, and it maybe unnecessary.
Once you click on the Use Page Builder button, it will switch from the WordPress WYSIWYG visual/text editor to the Divi Page Builder, and you will see the Page Builder settings where you can start play!
After playing a little with the Divi Page Builder, I confirm it’s pretty easy to use. The Builder takes you through the process of designing your page layout by adding sections or full width sections, inserting rows and columns, inserting modules into your layout, you do have a good collection of modules to play with.
Not like other complicated and tricky page builder I’ve seen on other Themes or Plugins, with the Divi Page Builder you won’t go wrong! It’s pretty solid, actually.
Divi Page Builder Modules
Here are the modules that chips with Divi:
I am pretty sure, this set will expand with time, and probably some of the WordPress developers can contribute to it. But, what’s really awesome is the Predefined Layouts that is included in the Builder, which save you a lot of time. Let’s take a look…
One of the coolest features of the Page Builder is the Predefined Layouts, these payouts will take you to where you want with only a few clicks, and save you a lot of hassle when building websites for clients. The available layouts covers the most common pages you would actually love to create!
Simply, this is a revolutionary! And it put Divi a head of many other Themes that comes with a Drag & Drop page builders, with usually doesn’t include any predefined page layouts and hard to build with as you will have to create everything by your own.
The list of Predefined Layouts includes 16 predefined page layouts that you can use and customize your own way, and as a bonus you can also save your layouts to use it on other pages too.
Included predefined layouts:
Homepage, Home page Simple, Homepage Store, Contact, Join, Portfolio, Shop Extended, Shop Basic, Blog Titled, Blog Standered, Our Team, About Me, Page Dual Sidebars, Page Left Sidebar, Page Right Sidebar and Faq Page.
Just to show you an example; I’ve picked the Homepage layout to show you a quick screenshot:
This is really incredible!
Export Page Builder Layouts:
Another cool feature you can find it under the Appearance menu, which allows you to export the page builder layouts including the custom page layouts that you’ve created yourself in an XML file, so you can import it to any other WordPress site that is powered by Divi Theme. This means you can also share it with a client or a friend, and maybe sell it too, I mean why not making some extra money building page layouts?! Just be creative 🙂
The importing process is pretty simply, it’s all done via the WordPress import function.
Is Divi Theme good for me?
I absolutely recommend Divi Theme, it’s an easy to use multi-purpose WordPress Theme that can be used to create different types of websites. It can be used by both average WordPress user and developers who works with clients.
As I mentioned before in my review, I won’t be able to cover all Divi’s features, I just don’t want to end up with a huge review post. You can visit ElegantThemes’s website and learn all about it.
Honestly, ElegantThemes made a huge jump in their Theme development bath.
Yes, Divi is a parent theme, so you can get yourself a child theme for Divi and start customizing it the way you want. Check out the Free Divi Child Theme.
Speaking about Pros, there are actually many features included in this Theme, but let’s focus on the cool really things:
- Very clean design
- Easy to setup and use
- Amazing Page Builder
- Predefined Page Layouts
- Export Page Builder Layouts
The only thing I can see missing and I wish it was possible is the ability to use the Divi Page Builder on Custom Post Types.
- The Page Builder do not work on Custom Post Types
Summary: Divi is an impressive multi-purpose WordPress Theme for all your projects, it’s recommended for both average WordPress user, and developers who build websites for their clients. It ships with an excellent Page Builder with Predefined Page Layouts. Divi Theme is revolutionary by all means.
