But, what if you wanted to create your own WordPress theme?

Yes, today you can get a WordPress theme that almost matches your requirements. But sometimes you’re not satisfied with the theme and want something of your own.

Well, there are some really awesome WordPress theme builder softwares out there that let you build a WordPress theme without writing a single line of code.

These WordPress theme builders are like any drag-and-drop page builder that lets you add elements to your page to design your theme.

The only difference here is that these theme builders let you build your entire WordPress theme.

The best part is that you don’t need to have any technical knowledge or coding skills to create these themes. The designing work happens visually.

In this article, I’ll show the top 3 WordPress theme builders that you can use to create your own WordPress theme.

Looking For A Theme Builder WordPress Plugin?

Divi is the most popular Drag & Drop WordPress Theme Builder.

We’ll do a deep dive into each theme builder and its features.

Ready? Let’s get started.

1. TemplateToaster

The first WordPress theme builder we have on our list is TemplateToaster. This WordPress theme creator lets you create a theme in just minutes.

TemplateToaster is a desktop-based software that you can download to get started with your theme designing.

You can add content while designing your theme so that when your theme is ready, your website can instantly go live.

The custom visual editor lets you add visual elements to your theme pages quite intuitively. The theme builder is also plugin friendly so that the theme you build is compatible with all the popular WordPress plugins

You can create custom menus, play around with the theme options, and create widget areas with ease using TemplateToaster.

The theme builder is WooCommerce compatible allowing you to create WooCommerce themes as well.

Let’s now take a look at how the entire process of theme creation works out using this theme builder.

First, you need to download the TemplateToaster software to get started. Once you have it up and running, you can start creating your WordPress theme.

You can choose to start from scratch or use a sample template to get a head start.

Here’s the theme designer with its general options:

As you can see from the above image, the interface of TemplateToaster is very similar to Microsoft Word or similar software.

You have the general options tab at first that lets you change the template, change the scheme, tweak the layout and sidebars, and much more.

There are options to add or edit pages, change the website typography, and thumbnail. You’ll also notice there are options to add custom CSS, JS, and PHP.

So, even if you’re not code-savvy, there are still options for custom code in case you need it.

Next up is the body tab that includes background options, and texture and effect settings.

You can add video and also change the scrolling style of the page from this section.

The container options include layout and border settings. Again, there are also options to add effects and textures to the container.

The header tab includes a lot of options that help you customize the header of your theme. There are presets that you can use to create your header.

You can set the header position and change its background, height, width, margin, and border. There are options to add textures and effects to your header as well.

You can also add social icons and place the logo in your header easily.

TemplateToaster lets you create a slider in your WordPress theme which can be customized to quite an extent.

There are a ton of options such as background, effects, transition, slideshow position, and more to your slideshow.

Adding widget areas is also very easy in TemplateToaster. The theme builder provides a lot of options to let you add widget areas in your theme.

If you’re wondering what elements come with TemplateToaster, here’s a look at the template tab:

As you can see, the theme builder includes all the essential elements required to create pages.

Lastly, TemplateToaster gives you a ton of customization for typography settings. You can choose different typography options for each text you have on your theme.

It’s no doubt that TemplateToaster is a powerful WordPress theme builder software. But let’s take a quick look at the features of this theme builder:

  • 100+ demo templates

  1. The author is either confused, out of touch or both. Development and support of Artisteer ended years ago and 1 out of the 3 isn’t even a desktop app. Add to that, there was no mention of other desktop apps for creating WordPress theme such as PineGrow or NicePage. This is definitely not a comprehensive article.

  2. Unfortunately, Artisteer has been kind of abandoned for a while now. That’s especially critical considering that Artisteer created templates don’t work in PHP 7.x. Used it myself for a long time for the minor projects with fast turnaround, and now have to figure out patches on my own. Lots and lots of Artisteer customers are in the same boat… The developers moved on to another shiny project that was supposed to be the end-all of CMS theme design, and had neglected the original product – and now it seems that the new stuff didn’t go anywhere either. Absolutely not recommended.
